The Packers haven’t changed their position in the power rankings for weeks.
Five weeks. Five wins.
This description fits for only a handful of teams in the NFL, and the Green Bay Packers are one of them. Their 24-10 victory over the St. Louis Rams wasn’t the prettiest of the season, but it remains a double-digit win over a quality opponent. As a result, Green Bay continues to hold steady at the No. 2 spot behind the New England Patriots in SB Nation’s weekly power rankings index.
Here is what power rankings curator Danny Kelly wrote about the Packers:
There’s not a lot of change at the top of the Week 6 power rankings as the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals all took care of business in varying styles to remain perfect on the year. Tom Brady and New England unsurprisingly rolled the Brandon Weeden-led Dallas Cowboys. The Packers overcame three rare turnovers by Aaron Rodgers to dispatch the St. Louis Rams. The Bengals rallied from 17 points down in the fourth quarter to win in overtime over the Seattle Seahawks. This trio of clubs are clearly the NFL’s top teams.
The mothership isn’t the only outlet placing the Packers second. ESPN also has them in that spot, likewise trailing New England. The same holds true for Yahoo! Sports. Only CBS Sports deviates from the rest, placing the Packers in the top position.
